It’s up, up, and away for our “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Summer Reading Challenge, thanks to a generous donation by Dubois-Pike Federal Credit Union.

On Friday, April 19, library director Lisa McWilliams was invited to come to the credit union’s Jasper office where credit union CEO Rose Nealy presented McWilliams with a check for $500.00.

The $500 grant was one of several being gifted to all the public libraries in Dubois and Pike counties, Nealy explained. When the credit union recently renewed its contract with VISA to provide debit and credit card processing services to their members, VISA then granted the credit union a total of $3,000.00 to donate toward a community investment. The credit union’s board of directors then voted to disburse the funds to the public libraries of Dubois and Pike counties to help support summer programs for children.

Dubois-Pike Federal Credit Union was started in 1971 by educators for educators employed in the Dubois and Pike County school corporations and their families. It currently provides banking services to over 2,500 members, including teachers, high school students, Friends of the Library members, and members in other civic organizations.
